Metro Manila · 8th International Silent Film Festival Manila (August 28 - 31)
The International Silent Film Festival will once again show how pictures and music are enough to tell great stories in film. The festival at Shang Cineplex features seven silent movies from three continents, most of them from the early decades of film making. Philippine and international musicians are taking care of the live soundtrack.
The festival will start with Charlie Chaplin's "City Lights" from 1931 and end with the contemporary Philippine film "Ang Tigmo sa Aking Pagpauli" (2013).
Live music will be provided from Glass Cherry Breakers, Caliph8, KaaPin, the Manila Composer’s Lab with Germany’s Pierre Oser, Radioactive Sago Project, and others.
The international Silent Film Festival is brought to you by The Japan Foundation, Goethe-Institut, Instituto Cervantes, the embassies of Italy, France and the United States, in cooperation with Shangri-La Plaza and the Film Development Council of the Philippines.
