This July the Embassy of Japan and the Japan Foundation Manila (JFM) celebrate the Philippines-Japan Friendship month and 40 years of ASEAN-Japan cooperation. The tight schedule of cultural activities includes the Japanese Film Festival Eiga Sei, an origami exhibit, and a mini cosplay contest.

From early July till mid-August the Film Festival Eiga Sei features sensitive dramas, artsy documentaries, beautiful animes and action-packed adventure movies in Manila, Cebu and Davao. The venues in Metro Manila are Shang Cineplex (Shangri-La Plaza Mall) and the Film Institute of UP Diliman. All movies will be shown with English subtitles. For the flyer with timetable and short description of the films, click here.

The Shangri-La Plaza Mall will host several exhibitions on Japanese culture, from photos of Japanese world heritage sites to origami artwork and toy robots.

A cosplay contest and a J-Pop anime singing contest will be held on July 20 in SM Mall of Asia. For more information and the application form, click here.

For further Japanese events in the coming weeks, check the websites of the JFM and of the Japanese Embassy.
