Being away from home and living in a different country strips you of that sense of protection and security. Panic, anxiety or depression ultimately strikes if you don't deal with the problem sooner. The results can be disastrous, with some resorting to isolating themselves from the world or worse.

There are various groups in the Philippines that offer help to various challenges associated with anxiety, depression and stress. This includes In Touch Community Services (ITCS), Living Free Foundation, Foundation AWIT (Advancing Wellness, Instruction, and Talents) and the World Health Organization (WHO).

Established in 1980, ITCS is a non-profit, non-governmental organization that provides services like professional counseling, a 24-hour free Crisis Line, face-to-face counseling, employee assistance program and cross-cultural orientation programs for expats and locals alike. It was originally developed with the help of the United States Embassy to provide newly-arrived expatriates with information about resources in Manila and to assist them in understanding and appreciating cross-cultural issues. ITCS has professionals and other volunteers who help callers or walk-ins cope with stress, anxiety, and depression.

Living Free Foundation is a non-profit counseling and activity center, with a focus on family/relationship problems and dependency/codependency related problems. The organization offers seminars on family relationships, self-empowerment workshops, counseling skills, team building and out-reach programs for communities.

Foundation AWIT is a non-stock, non-profit organization which aims to improve health, education and creative capacity of differently-abled persons through research and capacity building. It is active in the development of teaching-learning materials that integrate education, health and the arts.
