Since its inception in 1999, the festival played host to renowned film makers like Quentin Tarantino (Pulp Fiction, Django Unchained) and Fernando Meirelles (City of God, The Constant Gardener). This year, Ang Lee was recognized with the Lino Brocka Lifetime Achievement Award in a pre-festival event on November 28 in Manila.
