In observance of Eid al-Adha, Malacañang has declared 12 September 2016 a regular holiday. That means another long weekend for Filipinos!

President Rodrigo Duterte signed Proclamation No. 56 on September 5.

Eid al-Adha is also known as the Feast of Sacrifice, commemorating the willingness of Abraham to obey God. It is an annual celebration for Muslims around the world, starting after the Hajj or the annual pilgrimage to Mecca in Saudi Arabia.

The Eid al-Adha lasts about 70 days after the end of the month of Ramadan.
