Popular Swedish retail clothing company H&M opened its first store in the Philippines on October 17. Three more stores are to follow within the next year.

Megacitizens can now enjoy shopping at their favourite retail brand H&M without having to fly out of the Philippines, let alone Metro Manila.

During opening day, H&M received shoppers from 9 am until midnight at the Mega Fashion Hall in SM Megamall. The mall allotted the flagship store three floors with a total floor space of 3,000 square meters. Shoppers can expect a store design that is reminiscent of expansive art museums and fashion galleries

“We have been waiting for the best opportunity to be in the Philippines and now the wait is finally over. The Philippines is indeed ready for the next level of fashion and we are so proud to debut our amazing flagship store at SM Megamall! At H&M we always have something for everyone, and we can’t wait to welcome all shoppers in Manila to this fantastic store!” says Magnus Olsson, country manager of Greater China and South East Asia, in a press statement.

The Philippines’ first H&M store carries the brand’s full assortment for women, men, teenagers and children, including athletic wear and lingerie.

The October opening coincides with the launch of the brand’s Autumn/Winter 2014 collection, highlighting the limited edition H&M Studio line. The collection speaks to modern-day bohemian women, presenting playful prints, earthy colors and flowy silhouettes. For men, Autumn 2014 mixes Parisian cool with the attitude of London and the sleekness of New York to create a wardrobe for the mod urbanite.

Customers shopping on the opening day got exclusive opening deals. The first 200 in line received gift cards valued as high as P6,000 each, and opening offers that are up to 50 percent off. Regular store hours of 10am to 10pm resumed on October 20 onwards.

According to Steven Tan, vice president of SM Supermalls, three more branches will be opened in SM Makati, Mall of Asia, and SM North Edsa.
