Emperador Stadium, with its wide, open space, artificial grass, and blinding flood lights, is the best spot to watch or play football in Manila. The stadium is always alive with balls, lights, music, and cheers.

The Empy, never empty

The Emperador Stadium, otherwise known as the 'Empy', is an “all-weather football pitch” made of artificial turf with rubber grains. The turf sits on a 1.5 hectare land in McKinley Hill, Fort Bonifacio - which is why it is also known as the Mckinley Hill Football Field. You can spot Megacitizens from the world over gathering in this one place, all for the love of good old football. The Empy is the ideal place for everybody who is passionate for playing football, watching football, or just getting the foot to go somewhere.

Home of the UFL

With a seating capacity of 2,000, it was only fitting as the home pitch of the United Football League Philippines (UFL). The Emperador Stadium gave priority to the UFL on field usage for three years. Such was the result of a deal between the UFL and stadium owner Megaworld in April 2012.

Kick it!

Still, the stadium is open and available for renting for an hour or two of football mini-matches. Two hours is standard for a good game of 11-a-side. Of course, it all depends on the availability of the pitch. Getting a schedule is almost certain if you go for 6-8 am or 10-12 pm. If there are UFL team trainings or matches, it will be tougher to get a reservation.

With the Megacity humidity, the stadium is best enjoyed (or played in) early in the morning or at night. In the high noon, it could be tolerable only if you do wish for a good tan because it has limited seating at the covered grandstand.
