Metro Manila · Philippine International Convention Center
The Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) made it in the history books for being Asia’s first international convention center – housing paintings and sculptures of various Filipino artists and also serving as a venue for political summits, conventions and concerts of international artists.
The building, designed by Filipino National Artist Leandro V. Locsin, opened in September 1976 and encompasses over 70,000 square meters of floor area; the PICC has a competitive advantage when it comes to hosting any type of event.
'The PICC has five (5) building modules, the Delegation Building, Secretariat Building, Plenary Hall, Reception Hall and The Forum. Spaces herein are versatile enough to be transformed into almost any number of settings for any kind of exhibition, convention or special event' (from the PICC website).
The PICC hosted several big international events in the past, including Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summits and the World Law Conference.
The PICC is working on improving and building new facilities based on a 2015 press release sent by the government agency. A new trade exhibit hall will also be constructed within 2016, according to PICC representatives.
