Filipinas Heritage Library
The Filipinas Heritage Library celebrates Filipino history, art and culture through its rare collection of books, manuscripts, photographs, and music albums. It was the country’s first library to digitize its archives.
Virtually unknown, Mr Congson’s name does not appear in the CCP Encyclopedia of Artists or any other book. After illustrating unique & popular covers for the Philippine Magazine from 1936 to 1941, he concentrated on his corporate work for Meralco before retiring in Canada, where he died in 2006. With this edition of The Printed Word, we aim to show what Filipino values were predominant before the war, as illustrated by Mr Congson’s work & his own life as “a self-made man."
